Two years ago, Jesse's dad was at an auction when he spotted something... interesting.
A pull-behind, sit-on weeding machine.
Naturally, he snapped a picture and sent it to us with a simple message:
"You need this."
And like the perfectly obedient children we are... we listened. π
We put in our bid, crossed our fingers, and somehow we actually won the thing!
We hauled our new treasure home laughing the whole way, wondering, How in the world is this thing even supposed to work?
Here's the setup:
-
Two people sit on the weeding machine.
-
One brave soul drives the tractor.
-
Everyone hopes for the best.

We were convinced it would be perfect for keeping the weeds out of our corn patches.
Well... last year we learned an important lesson.
Turns out, a machine like this only works if your corn rows are planted at just the right spacing. Oops! Our rows weren't spaced correctly, so our fancy new weeder spent the entire season sitting.
Not this year!
When it came time to plant our corn, we measured everything carefully and made sure every row was exactly the right distance apart.
This past week was finally the big day.

We hooked the weeder to the tractor, recruited our son to drive, and Jesse and I climbed aboard.
You guys...
It was SO MUCH FUN.
On our very first pass, we couldn't stop saying, "This is so cool!"
The machine worked beautifully! It zipped right down the rows, knocking out weeds faster than we ever could by hand.
Honestly, it felt more like playing a video game than weeding.
Every once in a while we'd accidentally take out a corn stalk instead of a weed, and in my mind I could practically see a giant -50 floating over our heads while that awful "you messed up" video game sound played. π
Thankfully, there were way more points scored than lost.

We finished all of our corn patches in record time, and at the end of the day I actually said:
"That was so much fun!"
Who knew weeding could be one of the highlights of the week?
We even put together a video so you can see this contraption in action.
